Senior Citizens Obstacle Course Funny Events
The spring semester of senior year for the class of 2020 is like no other. When schools closed in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, almost overnight, seniors went from anticipating the fun and excitement of events like college acceptances, awards nights, prom, graduation and grad parties, to struggling with sadness and disappointment as the reality of their senior year of high school became clear. No celebrations, no fanfare and probably no graduation ceremonies.
But of course the class of 2020 should still be celebrated! They need to be recognized and feel how proud we are of them. Here are some fun ways that you can highlight their accomplishments and celebrate your class of 2020 senior now.

Throw a Graduation Parade Party
One of the fun ways you can celebrate your class of 2020 graduate is with a graduation parade party in lieu of a traditional party! Set a date and a window of time (an hour or 90 minutes is probably enough) and invite friends and family to parade past your house in their cars to celebrate your graduate! You can find graduation parade invitations on Zazzle or Etsy.com . I especially love this collection by DesignMyPartyStudio and used one of them for my daughter's graduation parade. Decorate the house or the yard with banners, lawn letters, signs and balloons to make it festive. To thank your guests for being part of the graduation parade, hand out small favors to the cars as they drive through.
If you're attending a graduation parade definitely decorate your car! Anything that's fun and colorful will work, and if you want to go all out you can have a car magnet or car flag made.
See our Graduation Parade Page for more ideas!
Buy a Graduation Yard Sign
Honor graduating students with a yard sign or banner from local photographer and Panther Creek High School teacher Edgar Huff. Edgar Huff Photography's new custom yard signs come in two sizes, 24" x 18"(most popular) and a custom designed 24" x 24". Each yard sign is made from a UV protected, rigid and waterproof 4mm corrugated material. And, in support of the important relationship between teachers, parents and students, for each yard sign purchased a percentage will be donated to the PTSA of the student's school. Free local delivery and curbside pickup are available and you can find all of the details and access the order form on the Edgar Huff Photography listing on TriangleSeniorYear.com.
You may also be able to purchase yard signs from your high school's student council or PTSA. Many schools sell "Senior" or "Graduate" yard signs displaying the school colors and mascot for families to display in their yard at the end of the year. There's no reason why you have to wait until late May or early June to celebrate your senior with a congratulatory yard sign or two – get them now and celebrate all spring.
Rent a BIG Yard Sign
If your yard sign budget is a little bigger and you want to make a really BIG statement to celebrate your senior, local Triangle residents can rent a yard sign from a company like Triangle Yard Cards (if you live outside of NC, check you local area for similar companies - they're very popular). They offer custom messages spelled out in large individual letters and decorative icons, and are perfect for birthdays, college acceptances, promposals, graduation and more!
Commemorate a High School Athletic Season or Career with a Photo Collage
Senior Night for spring sports may be lost – actually entire seasons have been lost – but your student athlete still deserves recognition for their athletic accomplishments during their high school career. Order a Senior Night Photo Collage from Collage and Wood to celebrate yourstudent athlete's season or career in pictures. The customizable collage letters and numbers are perfect for senior nights (even if they're virtual), birthdays, graduations and more. The finished collages range in size from Mini which is 12 inches, to Jumbo letters and numbers that are 36 inches. Collage and Wood ships WORLDWIDE and shipping is included with your order. Delivery takes 2-3 weeks from the time of your order AND submission of your images. These photo collages are a unique gift that any senior athlete or class of 2020 graduate (they're not limited to sports collages) will treasure!
Not sure what to do with all of those high school and/or athletics t-shirts? Have a t-shirt quilt made by Project Repat ! They offer several different sizes and the instructions for preparing and packing your tees are very easy to follow. They regularly have great promotions, and you can even purchase gift cards to give as a gift or apply toward a future project. We LOVE the finished product and I know my daughter will cherish her quilt forever.
Go All Out for College Decision Day 2020
National College Decision Day is traditionally May 1st, but can be celebrated any day! It's a day of declaration when your son or daughter officially announces where they plan to attend college. It's usually celebrated with social media posts of students in gear from their future school and with friends gathering to celebrate their futures. This year, Decision Day may be a bit different, but should be just as special, if not more so, since our seniors are missing so many other opportunities to celebrate.
To go all-out for your student's decision day, you'll need to plan ahead to have everything in place by the date you choose. For an inexpensive same day gift, check out the College Class of 2025 Rainbow Prints in our digital shop! Digital files will be e-mailed to you and you can have them printed locally same day, or send them to your favorite online printer like Shutterfly .
For apparel and gear, check out the online campus bookstore of the school your senior will attend. Even with Covid-19 closing college campuses, their online stores are still open for business and many are offering BIG coupons and discounts. You can also check out the officially licensed college gear at Zazzle.com . They have merchandise for about 100 college and universities. If you're looking for something unique and/or handmade, check out Etsy . One of my favorites is these College T-Shirt Pillows by TreasuredTShirts. And ContainYourselfGifts has awesome Custom College Gift Buckets that would be a fun surprise for College Decision Day celebration too. Once your gear arrives, plan a fun and memorable photo opp to capture the perfect shot for your senior's College Decision Day post.
If you want to make the day even a little sweeter, order a cake or cookies celebrating your senior's chosen school. If you live in the Triangle, Baked by Billie in Holly Springs makes amazing cakes for all occasions, including college-themed cakes for college decision day and graduation parties, and NC Cookie Girl in Cary makes the cutest hand decorated cookies, including college-themed cookies. If you're not in NC, reach out to your local bakery for college-themed cakes, or search for vendors who make artistic custom cookies.
Create a Memory Book or Mini Yearbook
Your senior will probably still receive their high school yearbook (if they ordered one) - so hey, there's one thing about senior year that might not be different for the class of 2020! But I think this year is always going to be remembered a little differently; I think the senior year memories that the class of 2020 DOES have will be more precious. Capture those memories of your senior's friend group, club, class or team with a custom memory book or mini yearbook from Shutterfly . There are a bunch of pre-made templates for graduation and yearbook-style memory books. You'll be able to customize the photo book exactly how you want to by adding, moving or removing photos, text, backgrounds and stickers.
This spring is nothing like what the class of 2020 and their families were envisioning for their final semester of high school, but we can, and should still celebrate our seniors and all of their accomplishments.
